Teaching Mark 1 in Eight Sessions

Pilot programs combining biblical storytelling workshop methods (including the Lion Hunt) and restorative justice practices are underway at a county jail with women and a state prison with men. The sessions have proven to be very meaningful for both insiders and outsiders. Learning, exploring, connecting and telling gospel stories “works” whatever the context, and transforms any space into a sacred one. Here is the breakdown of the eight sessions:

Presentations on Biblical Storytelling Behind Bars

October is a month of presentations in Dayton, Ohio about the biblical storytelling approach to Bible study that GoTell is developing with persons who are incarcerated. An annual event hosted by the Montgomery County Volunteer Jail Chaplaincy Ministry will be the first venue in October. This “Restoration, Recovery, and Reentry Conference” is designed to attract returning citizens coming home from incarceration, anyone with any type of conviction, the faith community, and community service agencies. It is a free event held on Saturday, October 12 at United Theological Seminary starting at 9:00 in the morning. Later in the month GoTell will present the program to a Quaker community and then again at a “Lunch and Learn” after-worship session hosted by the Missions Team of Grace United Methodist Church.
