Festival Gathering 2015: The Big Move Succeeds
Those of us who’ve been a part of NBS (Network of Biblical Storytellers) for many years are always nervous when we move the location of the annual Festival Gathering. We had been at Ridgecrest near Ashville, NC for a number of years and this year moved to the National 4-H Conference Center in Chevy Chase, MD just outside DC.
To our relief, many came. To our delight, the group was younger and more diverse. Workshops were great, worship was creative and spirit-filled, storytelling was inspiring, and the NBS Games were hilarious. Meeting new people and re-connecting with old friends was such a blessing. The NBS Festival Gathering always ends before I’m ready to say goodbye.
Dr. McMickle: Living Water for Thirsty Souls
We’ve had many great keynotes over the years, but for me the series of presentations by Dr. Marvin McMickle may have been the best talks I have ever experienced. His adaptation of principles of preaching to biblical storytelling was very useful and his delivery compelling. While the talk was so much more than the content of his book, I plan to read it and recommend it to anyone who preaches or tells biblical stories–Living Water for Thirsty Souls: Unleashing the Power of Exegetical Preaching.
From Founder’s Moments to a Gold Medal
The day Tom wore his Cambodia shirt started with his delivery of the annual “Founder’s Moments” talk…
…and ended with his team winning the gold medal for the best line dance choreography. But how could they lose–they picked Tina Turner’s “Proud Mary” for music and came up with great moves!
