05_MessiahOfPeaceCoverMessiah of Peace Update

We anticipated The Messiah of Peace would be out early in 2015. That didn’t happen, but there are hopeful signs it is coming soon. Receiving a graphic for the cover last month was very encouraging. And the galley proofs just arrived-another sign that publication will actually occur, maybe even this year!

“One Story, Many Voices”

2015 Festival Gathering of Biblical Storytelling

This is THE international conference for biblical storytelling, taking place near Washington D.C. It features action-packed days of dynamic workshops for beginners through master storytellers, inspiring keynote presentations, world-class performances of both sacred and traditional storytelling, and the opportunity to immerse yourself in the Bible as story.
05_DrMarvinMcMickleDr. Marvin McMickle is the keynote speaker this year. Dr. McMickle is President of Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School and Professor of Church Leadership. He is a member of the Martin Luther King, Jr. International Board of Preachers and has authored 14 books and numerous articles for professional journals and magazines.

GoTell will be present and active. Tom will be leading a series of workshops on the Messiah of Peace. Amelia will lead workshops on one of the theme stories, and on biblical storytelling with people who are incarcerated.

GoTell in St. Louis

In early May, Tom will present a series of lectures at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis for their “Exegesis Day” event. The titles of his presentations are:

05_circleMary“Circle of the Word” Resource Site

A website providing resources for leading “Circle of the Word” programs for people who are incarcerated is under construction and will be launched next month. Circle of the Word is a biblical storytelling workshop structured by peacemaking circle processes.

The site will be organized by theme and story, with original graphics by Cortney Haley, sample designs for each story, and how-to’s for all the activities. The resurrection stories from John 20-21 are being taught at the Montgomery County (OH) Jail this spring. These will be the first stories on the site. Second on the docket is a summer series on “Founding Mothers” (Sarah and Hagar).
