At Benson UMC in rural North Carolina Greg Kornegay leads by example to encourage the telling of scripture by heart. He has encouraged the lay-scripture readers at his church to provide background information when reading as well as doing scripture by heart.

As many of us have learned, it is often a significant challenge to change the way scriptures are presented in our local churches. Greg continues to pray for his church and to encourage others to take up a biblical storytelling vocation as God leads him.

Greg and four other biblical storytellers in central North Carolina told Mark’s Passion Story at two churches during Holy Week 2009: First UMC in Cary and Edenton St. UMC in Raleigh. They hope to form a Carolina Guild of the Network of Biblical Storytellers.
