Academy for Biblical Storytelling Master’s Retreat

In mid-December GoTell hosted the culminating retreat of the master’s level program of the Academy for Biblical Storytelling. Pictured above are Dean Tracy Radosevic, the three program participants—Gail Losch, T.J. Parlette, Gillian Powis—and Gillian’s spouse, Leigh. All traveled to Dayton from out-of-state; Gillian and Leigh Powis won the distance prize, arriving straight from their home in Adelaide, Australia.

Over the course of three days the three participants completed their requirements with flying colors and will receive their well-earned Master’s Certificates of Biblical Storytelling at the 2010 Festival Gathering of the Network of Biblical Storytellers. At the retreat they:

  • Presented the educational resources they had developed
  • Proved their coaching capabilities
  • Gave 90-minute performances complete with digital enhancements
  • Demonstrated proficiency telling 60-minutes-worth from their respective biblical story repertoires

For this ambitious agenda GoTell provided rooms and meals plus an enthusiastic audience, feedback and coaching guinea pigs. We were impressed with all we witnessed and grateful to Gail, T.J. and Gillian for dedicating so much time and talent to the calling of communicating God’s word through biblical storytelling.

Following the retreat Dean Tracy stayed over to tell the scripture for Grace Church, Dayton about John the Baptist…

Children’s Ministry: New Focus for GoTell

Integrating biblical storytelling and Jesus’ way of peace into children’s ministry will be a 2010 focus for GoTell. As the new Director of Children’s Ministries for a multicultural congregation near downtown Dayton, I will explore how biblical storytelling can empower the challenging work of ministry and mission with children in an urban context. To get acquainted with a wide range of resources, issues, approaches and principles I started off the year by attending the Children’s Pastor’s Conference in Nashville, Tennessee. Amelia

Network of Biblical Storytellers Winter Board Retreat

Tom attended the Winter Board Retreat for the Network of Biblical Storytellers held mid-January in Orlando. This organization continues to be a primary focus for the work of GoTell and our partnership remains fruitful. GoTell was encouraged to expand its work resourcing local church Scripture by Heart groups and was also invited to submit proposals for the production of two promotional videos: international biblical storytelling mission trips and the NBS Festival Gathering.
