Monday with Jesus

Each Monday we email a message with resources for the upcoming Sunday Gospel story as designated by the Revised Common Lectionary, including a link to a YouTube video of the story being told, followed by casual Q&A commentary. If you want to be on the elist to receive “Monday with Jesus” emails, send me a message: amelia@gotell.org

Back from Healing Break

The last post I did for this site was January. The last “Monday with Jesus” we did was two months ago. We took a healing break following an unexpected heart-stopping experience at the end of Tom’s shoulder surgery on January 6.

But today we resumed with a telling-commentary on the story of Jesus’ wilderness experience, according to the Gospel of Luke. If ever there was a story supporting the practice of internalizing scripture, this is it. It’s what gave Jesus power to resist the temptations of the devil.

Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent, a season to embrace Jesus’ spiritual practice: scripture by heart. I’m working on a passage to tell at church on March 20 about slain Galileans, crushed Jerusalemites, and an unproductive fig tree. But don’t worry, the video below is all about the temptation story.
