In the Beginning

“In the beginning, when God created the heavens and the earth…” Genesis 1:1
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1

John’s Gospel sets the story of Jesus in a cosmic perspective with a message even more beautiful, powerful, and awe-inspiring than the Christmas Day launch of a telescope meant to probe the physical beginnings of the universe. As we strive to understand the beginning of things from both spiritual and scientific perspectives, we pray this new year may bring more understanding and wisdom about both.
